SILENT BUT DEADLY Mentioned in ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
Friday, May 17, 2002

EWIn Issue #655 of ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, there's an article in the DIGITAL section on page 98 that mentions SILENT BUT DEADLY.

The article is about the OFFICIAL FAN FILM AWARDS and while mentioning some of the winners, they also mentioned that, "...a few films - especially the runners-up - are worth watching." One of those films mentioned is SILENT BUT DEADLY. Here's what they had to say:

SILENT BUT DEADLY, a send-up of the ongoing tussles between Lucas' legal stormtroopers and the embattled webmasters of SW-themed sites, deserves honorable mention for its death ray of insider jokes. A rather dubious distinction when you consider that holding a competition for the best STAR WARS fan film is something of a giant feedback loop in the first place.

SILENT BUT DEADLY Featured On SCI-FI Channel's FAN FILM AWARDS Special!
Monday, May 13, 2002

The Pizza TroopersThe SCI-FI CHANNEL's special featuring the winners (and apparently the runners-up) of the OFFICIAL FAN FILM AWARDS showed a clip of SILENT BUT DEADLY, with introduction by one of Jeff and Lou's favorite filmmakers, KEVIN SMITH, the host of the 1-hour special.

SILENT BUT DEADLY did not win a top award in the contest, but did get 2 mentions. This special was like a mini-awards show that listed the runners-up in each category, therefore we got a clip and mention. They showed Lou opening the door to the Pizza troopers and then they cut to the toilet scene, which always gets good laughs from the audience.

The boys and Lucas share the screen on the Sci-Fi ChannelOn the whole, Jeff and Lou are VERY pleased to have been included at all. They couldn't be happier with the contest as a whole and the results. Once again, congrats to all the winners and congrats to all those included on the TV special. If you haven't seen it yet, you can catch the rerun times at the SCI-FI CHANNEL.

SILENT BUT DEADLY featured on WiredNews.com
Thursday, April 25, 2002

SILENT BUT DEADLY was featured in an article on WIRED.COM, the website companion to WIRED Magazine. The article was written by the very cool Katie Dean, who gave the film mucho props. Both Jeff and Lou are quoted in the article. Click the image on the right for a screenshot. Below are some excerpts but for the full article, head over to WIRED.COM:

"There was really no need for there to be any dialogue as long as you are able to pull it off visually," said Jeff Cioletti, who had the idea for the short. "The twist (was) the modern setting with modern themes. Stormtroopers in a suburban setting –- that was part of the humor of it."

"We were shooting on my front porch and my neighbors drove by and were like, 'What the heck is that?'" [Lou] Tambone said.

Tambone said that even though he made a fan film and runs a fan website, he's not "a geek who lives in his mom's basement and talks about the color of Boba Fett's underwear."

"I can't be thinking about the undergarments of Star Wars characters. I have a two-year-old son, wife and a mortgage –- among other real life things."

The still featuring our bold troopers played by Dion Rupa and Frank Usamanont was featured on the site's main page as well as the STAR WARS TODAY page and the news page featuring the full story. Everyone involved with the film is pretty excited about that as it will help increase viewings and votes. Thanks to STARWARS.COM for the nod!
