CHRONOTRIP Review by Eric Campos

It's all very interesting. No... really... it is. But at the very beginning of this film, you can’t help but giggle as you watch the featured physicists and philosophers talk themselves in circles about what exactly time is. It’s funny cuz it's not the type of stuff you normally sit around discussing... at least I hope it isn't. Read More...

Rarely does a movie come along that has such a fan base as the Star Wars franchise does. Other than Star Trek, which has a unique collection of followers (or trekies, or trekers, or whatever they like to be called this month), there is no other movie phenomenon that has such a passionate group of followers than George Lucas' fantasy masterpiece. It is, on this following, that Jeff Cioletti bases his documentary, Millennium's End: The Fandom Menace. Read More...

Filmthreat Interview with Jeff Cioletti
By Jeff Cioletti

Jeff Cioletti’s film “Millennium's End: The Fandom Menace” is by far the best documentary about Star Wars fandom I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen them all. This film presents a balanced view of fans showing them as real people who have lives and a passion for Star Wars. (Other docs I’ve seen show fans as objects of ridicule, or as lemmings following the teachings of Master Lucas.) Jeff channeled his own obsession for Star Wars into an ambitious documentary that spans two years in the lives of fans from the debut of the Star Wars Special Editions in 1997 to the frenzy surrounding the premiere of Episode I in 1999. The result is an amazing 96-minute doc shot with a camcorder and edited on an iMac. This $9,000 film captures not only the events of those two long years, but the passion for Star Wars that binds fans together.
Jeff is currently self-distributing his movie, selling copies on video through his web site and showing it at cons all over the country. So, what does this Star Wars fan have to say about fandom? Read More...

Millenium's End: The Fandom Menace is a 96-minute documentary shot, produced and edited by a guy in New Jersey with a camcorder and an iMac. Welcome to desktop feature filmmaking. Jeff Cioletti was just another Star Wars fan in 1997, obsessed over the release of the first new Star Wars film in 16 years. In his quest for information about the film, he pored over fan sites, the official starwars.com site and attended as many Star Wars conventions as he could. Read More...

Christina Romo won't mind spending part of next month in line, waiting for her ticket to "Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace." She has already waited most of her life. "I was 9 when I saw 'Star Wars' in a theater," said Romo, 31, of North Bergen. "I begged my older brother to take me to see it. The scene where Darth Vader walks in, I was hyperventilating. I was so afraid, I had to go out into the lobby. I've been hooked ever since." Read More...

Everyone's Heard of Trekkers, but what are 'Star Wars' fans called? Just ask Jeff Cioletti of North Brunswick, who is making a documentary about fans obsessed with the science fiction series. By Ivor Hanson - Correspondent Though first-time filmmaker Jeff Cioletti regards seeing the first "Star Wars" movie as a seminal event in his life he was 5 years old at the time and readily admits that the movie dominated his childhood, he doesn't consider himself obsessed by the film. 'Star Wars' fanatic filming the passion
By Jeff Cioletti

Jeff Cioletti got hooked in kindergarten. ''People in my kindergarten class would talk about it and I had to do it too," recalled the 26-year- old resident of North Brunswick, discussing the start of the fascination that has followed him through life. "I loved it." Like other addictions, it began simply: a few initial experiences, a desire for more - and then the urge to acquire all the figures andtrading cards. Clearly, Cioletti's addiction, a compulsion to see all of George Lucas' "Star Wars" movies, is not in the same league as more health-threatening breeds of addictions, but it has, nonetheless, changed his life. For over a year now, Jeff Cioletti has been documenting the final months of waiting, hoping and anticipating the release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. His self-financed project, entitled Millennium's End: The Fandom Menace, is being shot on Hi8 video. So far, he's talked to a number of fans nationwide, all of the web site bigwigs and some well-known folds such as Kevin J. Anderson, Rebecca Moesta and Anthony Daniels. But it's fans like you and me who are the focus of the documentary. In fact, both James and I were interviewed! The New Jersey-based Cioletti kindly took time out of his busy schedule to chat with BH about this project. Read More...
